What is organic cotton?

Organic cotton is the one which has been grown without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers. Therefore, organic cotton has less impact on the environment. Some of the main advantages of organic cotton production process, making it much friendlier to the environment are:

- Strengthen the floor with crop rotation (instead of using synthetic fertilizers and monocultures predominate)

- Retains water more efficiently through the use of organic material in soil (rather than requiring intensive irrigation)

- Physically removes weeds and are controlled manually (instead of applying herbicides)

- Maintain a balance between pests and their natural predators through a healthy soil (instead of using insecticides, highly toxic pesticides, sprays and air pollutants)

- Relies primarily on seasonal freezing for defoliation. Can be stimulated by water management (rather than pluck with toxic chemicals)

- Seed is not artificially (rather than with fungicides or insecticides, and genetically modified)
